“We Are Tomodachi”
is an official online magazine that introduces Japan’s attractions and its deep and multifaceted ties with the rest of the world to our country’s friends (tomodachi) across the globe. A new edition is published about once every two months.
In addition to special feature articles on timely topics, the magazine includes regular series such as “Friends of Japan,” which focuses on individuals from other countries playing active roles in Japan, and “Japanese Individuals Contributing Worldwide,” which introduces Japanese volunteers and others serving in various capacities overseas.
This website presents the latest edition, along with back numbers; the contents are searchable by edition, category, and country or region.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe spoke in the opening ceremony of the 2017 Global Summit of Women, which was held in Japan for the first time. This event brought together more than 1,300 women leaders in politics and business from throughout the world. Prime Minister Abe concluded his speech with an important message: “In order to create a society in which all women can shine, let us learn together and work together to change the world.” (May 2017)
