“We Are Tomodachi”
is an official online magazine that introduces Japan’s attractions and its deep and multifaceted ties with the rest of the world to our country’s friends (tomodachi) across the globe. A new edition is published about once every two months.
In addition to special feature articles on timely topics, the magazine includes regular series such as “Friends of Japan,” which focuses on individuals from other countries playing active roles in Japan, and “Japanese Individuals Contributing Worldwide,” which introduces Japanese volunteers and others serving in various capacities overseas.
This website presents the latest edition, along with back numbers; the contents are searchable by edition, category, and country or region.
On November 28, 2019, Prime Minister ABE Shinzo hosted a reception for the gathering of foreign cadet graduates of the National Defense Academy (NDA), at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence. Among the participants were around 50 foreign cadet graduates from 12 countries who are making contributions by acting as a bridge between their respective countries and the Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces of Japan, as well as foreign cadets currently studying at the NDA.
