“We Are Tomodachi”
is an official online magazine that introduces Japan’s attractions and its deep and multifaceted ties with the rest of the world to our country’s friends (tomodachi) across the globe. A new edition is published about once every two months.
In addition to special feature articles on timely topics, the magazine includes regular series such as “Friends of Japan,” which focuses on individuals from other countries playing active roles in Japan, and “Japanese Individuals Contributing Worldwide,” which introduces Japanese volunteers and others serving in various capacities overseas.

Japan and Russia Edition 2018
In September 2017, while visiting Vladivostok, Russia to attend the Eastern Economic Forum, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe watched the International Vladivostok Jigoro Kano Junior Judo Tournament with H.E. Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of the Russian Federation, at a stadium. Vladivostok is the place where Vasili Sergevich Oshchepkov, who is called “the founder of Russian Judo,” opened the first judo school in Russia.
